Bucks Open Studios is the largest visual arts event in Buckinghamshire and this year takes place 10-25 June. The annual artistic extravaganza showcases over 500 artists and makers who open up their studios to the public for two weeks with an impressive line-up of free demonstrations, hands-on workshops and exhibitions in over 200 venues across Buckinghamshire.  Visit the website for more details www.bucksopenstudios.org.uk


Once again during the middle two weeks of June, 10th-25th inclusive, Artists and Makers of various skills will be opening their studios to the public and mounting exhibitions of their work.   Everyone is welcome to come and see the diverse talents that in many instances are hidden from general view. Entrance is free to these events and there is absolutely no obligation to buy.

One of the local artists is...

Susan Gray, whose working art studio is through the archway by the traffic lights in Wendover High Street.  Susan is a sea and landscape artist who  takes her inspiration from Devon, Cornwall and the Chilterns and also enjoys painting flowers.  Her studio will be open from Sunday 11 June to Sunday 25 inclusive, every day 11-4, except Mondays and Wednesdays.  She will have lots of work on show plus sketchbooks and studies and will also be painting and demonstrating. All welcome to come along and have a browse and chat.

Artists showing are Ros Castling, wearable and decorative felting, encaustic wax pictures, Kat Newman glass art and other crafts,  Deborah Pengelly domestic-ware and sculptural ceramics, Mike Spark acrylic paintings and mono-prints, Susie Upstone Silver jewellery for everyday and for special occasions, Jane Waller drawings of movement and books  both reference and childrens novels, Sue Ward detailed colourful rugs. We are found on the A4010 Aylesbury-Princes Risborough road, almost opposite Little Kimble station with the 300 bus stop outside. We are open 10th 11th, 16th 17th 18th 23rd 24th 25th; i.e. fridays saturdays and sundays of the open fortnight. Both firdays we are open 2.00 - 5.30, and weekends 10.30 - 5.30. We are additionally open late on Friday 16th until 8; everyone is very welcome but we would be especially pleased to see you. The historic Stewart Hall has good parking and wheelchair facilities. We will be demonstrating our arts and crafts whenever we can, this is primarily a free exhibition to encourage everyone to access the arts; we like to entertain, educate and ecourage others to take up arts and crafts for themselves. Finally refreshments, we are famed for our cream teas, and other hand-made cakes.

Nearby at the Halton Tennis Centre, Javier Gutierrez Polo will be exhibiting his Photographs.


Although Jeremy White and Godfrey Thorpe will not be opening their Studio this year, Jeremy will be part of the Buckinghamshire Pottery & Sculpture Society Exhibition at Obsidian Art, Layby Farm, Stoke Mandeville, where there is an exciting and eclectic range of different Artworks on show.
