HS2

  |  Published: Nov 22nd 2012

The HS2 project is a plan to build a new railway from north London to Birmingham and eventually on to the North East. It is called HS (or High Speed) 2 to follow the project which built a rail link from the Channel Tunnel to London.  While a number of options for the route were considered by the Department for Transport (DfT), the preferred route would take the line past Wendover, alongside the existing line from Marylebone to Aylesbury.

There has been widespread protest against the project on a wide range of grounds, including that the Business Case prepared to justify the project is seriously flawed.  Wendover News has been covering the project and the protests against it since it began and articles and comments relating to the issue are collected on this page.

This page brings together all the articles on HS2 which have appeared in Wendover News together with some new material.

Further information can be found on the web sites of StopHS2 which is the main group opposed to the project, of HS2 which is the organisation formed to promote the project and of the Department for Transport which is the responsible department of Government for the project.  There is an article on the project on Wikipedia.
