Paralympic star completes record attempt at Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Spanish Paralympian Javi Conde has achieved his record-breaking goal to run a marathon in all 28 cities that have hosted the Olympic and Paralympic games, after completing 26.2 miles (105 laps) at Stoke Mandeville Stadium on Sunday (10 July).

Celebrate 'Connect' a new independent living service for older people

OLDER PEOPLE LIVING in sheltered housing schemes in Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Farnham and Prestwood will help celebrate the launch of a new county wide service this week (13 and 14 July) with afternoon tea and 1940's style dancing. The new service, funded by Buckinghamshire County Council, aims to help older people living in supported housing stay independent for longer.

Paralympic star heads to Stoke Mandeville Stadium for record attempt

At 9.30 am, Paralympic star Javi Conde will run the marathon at Stoke Mandeville Stadium as part of an attempt to become the first athlete in the world to run marathons in all 28 cities that have hosted the Olympic and Paralympic games. He will complete 105 laps of the track in approx 3 hrs and 30 min. Members of the public are invited to come and cheer him on along with local athletes who are invited to take part also in the marathon.
