Last week Aylesbury College had some very special guests. Alan and Hazel Colliver, who met at the College over 50 years ago, recently returned as part of their Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations.

The couple enjoyed lunch at the College’s own restaurant – Harding’s. They were then given a guided tour and were surprised at how much the College has expanded in size since their own school days and the broad range of courses now on offer.

Alan and Hazel met while studying ONC Science in 1963 and have been together ever since. After leaving Aylesbury College, the couple both pursed successful careers locally. Alan worked with Crendon Concrete and Buckinghamshire County Council and later qualified as a charted surveyor. Hazel enjoyed her own successful career at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, working in haematology and pathology.

Proving that it is never too late to try something new, the couple are both active members of The University of the Third Age (U3A). As well as that, they both enjoy being part of a singing group.

Alan commented: “We are very happy to be back. The college has altered a lot over the past years and we are delighted with all the new changes. Even so, it still brings back old memories.”
