Autumn Term Update - Chiltern Way Federation Wendover Campus

  |  Published: Dec 13th 2016

Another term has flown past with pupils and staff working hard to ensure the very best outcomes and maximise achievement in the run up to the Christmas holidays.

As usual at this time of year we have our annual pantomime, which this year is a twist on the traditional Jack and the Beanstalk tale involving a giant baked bean can. As always the staff and pupils are pulling out the stops with opportunities to learn new skills such as lighting and sound, stage management, set design and props. Alongside and including the pantomime this year we will be putting on a Christmas spectacular giving pupils a chance to show off their skills and talents which have been taught and encouraged through our curriculum such as art and music. This will include Judo in which some of our pupils achieved their first gradings this year so especially well done to them.

Our focus this year is on Growth Mindset and building the resilience and reciprocity of our pupils. For anyone that has not come across this before the basic principle is not that you can’t do it but rather that you “can’t do it yet”. For pupils to understand that learning can be hard and sometimes a real struggle but that there are genuine rewards and strength to be gained from it is massively important, particularly for pupils like ours who may have experienced failure and struggle throughout their education. This is a long term project that over time will massively increase the life chances and opportunities for all our pupils.

We are always delighted to have visitors in to school and relish the chance to show off our great campus and more importantly our great students. If you would like to pop along and have a tour get in touch with the school office and arrange a visit, it would lovely to see you. We are also keen to further our links with the community through our Work Experience Programme and we would love to hear from you if you could offer a work experience placement for our pupils – if you can please get in touch!

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas and a very happy new year and I look forward to keeping you all posted as to the incredible success and achievements of our school and pupils throughout 2017.
