Brighter Walks ahead thanks to Buckinghamshire Housebuilder

Pupils at Bierton CE Combined Primary School in Buckinghamshire are set to benefit from a brighter walk to school, thanks to a new footpath opened by leading housebuilder, Barratt and David Wilson Homes.

To celebrate the opening of the footpath, which links the school to the Kingsbrook development in Aylesbury, the homebuilder donated 70 hi-vis kit bags to help the pupils stay safe and seen in the dark evenings.

A number of families who have moved into the development have children who attend the school.

The leading housebuilder created the new footpath above and beyond its planning obligations, to give back to the local community and help children with an easier and safer route to school.

Will Gadsby, Assistant Headteacher at Bierton CE Combined School, said, “We have an ever-increasing number of children who live on the Kingsbrook development so we are delighted that they have a safe passage to and from our school.”

Jo Alden, Technical Director of Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames, said, “Supporting the community around Kingsbrook is really important to us, we are happy to have opened a new footpath which enables children to walk to school from the development easily.

“We’re also pleased we could donate hi-vis kit bags to the school, to help keep children safe and seen when walking during darker evenings.”
