Residents and civic leaders from across Buckinghamshire joined the Bishop of Buckingham and Rector of Aylesbury yesterday (Wednesday September 9)  to celebrate the day HM The Queen became the UK's longest serving monarch.

A special church service marking the moment was led by the Rector, the Rev Doug Zimmerman, at St Mary's Church, Aylesbury.

Around 150 heard an address by the Bishop, the Rt Rev Dr Alan Wilson, who spoke about the Queen's long reign and how well-loved she is internationally. Musical pieces were performed by St Mary's Choir and Aylesbury's Joyful Divas.

The church service was hosted by County Council Chairman Bill Chapple, Aylesbury Vale District Council Chairman Jenny Bloom and Aylesbury Town Mayor Allison Harrison.
