Going Electric – caring for the environment as well as the clients!

  |  Published: Apr 30th 2014

Long standing and local care at home provider, Universal Care, decided to help the environment as well as their clients by purchasing an all-electric Smart Car.  The car is used on a daily basis by Care Managers visiting clients.  Trudi Scrivener, Managing Director, explains that staff simply plug it into a 13 amp socket overnight which gives it a range the following day of up to 70 miles.  She says that the car has been named ‘Betsy’ and she is really part of the Universal Care family, staff love to drive her!

Local MP and Attorney General, Dominic Grieve, named the car, Betsy, at a special ceremony at the local garden centre.  The Rector, Rev. Dr. Jeremy Brooks then blessed the car.

Universal Care Chairman, Peter Cullimore, said “although we purchased Betsy as a contribution to the environment we find that it is an extremely economical and reliable vehicle and fully meets the needs of our Care Managers”.

Look out for Betsy, she will certainly be seen around the streets of Wendover and surrounding areas!
