Halton Bike Club Opens Its Doors

RAF Halton has a new bike club. It was opened this week with a media event involving the committee and Chairman of the club, Cpl Jamie Colacicco. The Club was set up in an old refurbished kitchen and was financed by donations from the Nuffield Trust who donated £2674, £508 from Support Wing, £400 from the Station Gym and £300 from SSAFA.

The intent of the Club is to give members a whole new experience and the chance to use turbo trainers, rollers, night lights, GPS system and an area to service their bikes.

The Club have a number of runs planned with a weekend ride to Wales and an expedition to France for one weeks cycling in the foothills of the Alps. Last year they raised £600 for Action Medical Research.

Cpl Colacicco said: “This is a wonderful area for cycling with Wendover Woods so close and we are very grateful for the donations that got the Club up and running. If anyone would like to join the Club they can come along on Club nights or contact me in Supply Training Wing.”
