Fans of the Pokémon Go craze are hunting their favourite characters in the beautiful surroundings of Buckinghamshire's Country Parks.

People playing the hit game, in which Pokemon characters can be found in real world locations using a mobile phone, have already been spotted chasing after the virtual creatures in Black Park and Denham.

The parks – home to beautiful woodland, gardens and lakes - offer a fantastic setting for families to play the game, while also enjoying a huge range of activities and events over the summer holidays.

Highlights include:
•         Den building at Langley Park on Tuesday, August 2 and Wednesday, August 3: Have a go at building your own den with the help of country park rangers.

•         Kids Forest Arts Weaving on Thursday, August 4 and Thursday, August 18, at Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre, Denham: Search the woods for exciting woodland shapes and see what you can weave - a fish, a tree, a star?

•         Wizard of Oz open air musical at Langley Park on Sunday, August 7: Bring a picnic and ease on down the yellow brick road.

•         The Black Park Community Games on Wednesday, August 10: Think classic sports day with egg and spoon races, welly wanging, three-legged races and more.

•         Creepy crawly hunt in Black Park on Wednesday, August 24: Hunt for insects using a mini-beast kit with the help of the Country Park Rangers and learn about the bugs and beasts you find.

•         Bushcraft in Black Park on Monday, August 29: Enjoy learning bushcraft skills in Black Pines Camp and explore ways to help you survive in the forest.

•         Lakeside Fair in Black Park on Wednesday, August 31: Jam-packed with fun activities including inflatables, music, crazy golf, a petting farm, games, a pocket-money shop and more.

Warren Whyte, Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment at Buckinghamshire County Council, said: “It is quite extraordinary how the new Pokemon Go game is encouraging millions of fans to get off their sofas and step out into the great outdoors.

"Our beautiful Country Parks offer an amazing environment to enjoy the game, hunt for those rare characters and do battle with like-minded people.

"And, as ever, there’s an amazing range of special activities to keep the whole family entertained during the school summer holidays.”

Fans are reminded to take care while playing Pokémon Go around roads, lakes and other obstacles.
