Passengers who buy weekly tickets on Route 1 bus service from High Wycombe to Amersham and Chesham will be able to catch the first bus that comes along.

From Tuesday (September 1) the new Route 1 Pass can be used on both Carousel and Arriva buses on the route.

Two years ago a partnership between Buckinghamshire County Council and bus operators Arriva and Carousel paved the way for a co-ordinated timetable with both companies’ buses running at regular intervals

Mark Shaw, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: 'The joint timetable has been a big success and passengers on the route have enjoyed a much improved service. The new weekly ticket is another great development for bus passengers.'

Stefan Soanes, Carousel Buses’ General Manager, said: 'Quite simply passengers with the new weekly ticket will be able to catch the first bus that arrives at their stop, whether it’s a red one or a blue one.”

Ken Hargreaves, from Arriva The Shires, said: 'This is another really positive move for everyone, after the success of the joint timetable.'

The new ticket will be introduced on a trial basis between the 1st of September and the 31st December. It will be carefully assessed and a decision made on whether to make the ticket permanent.

Weekly tickets cost £20 for an adult and £15 for a student or child.
