Before their Annual Meeting on  29th April, the Trustees enjoyed conversing over a buffet lunch with some 20 people who represent various organisations in Wendover. They were pleased that Dr Colin Campbell, who was awarded a MBE in the New Year Honours for services to the community of Waddesdon, was able to attend with his wife, Daphne. An interesting talk was given by William Morris and Edward Lewis, Founder and Co-Director of a new company in Wendover, Ali Quantum, based in Back Street. Their enthusiasm for their novel approach to recruiting students by providing them with business training and matching them to target clients from whom they receive a commission was very evident. The Trust was able to help them set up their new business last year.

Since last year’s AGM, the Trust awarded a total of £8,554.64 in grants to individuals and organisations in Wendover and also made an  interest-free loan of £5,000 repayable over 5 years.

At their meeting the Trustees considered a further 33 applications resulting in a total of £51,620 being paid in grants with a further £21,200 promised over the next 2 years. This was distributed as follows:-

Education: £7,420 with a further £1,200 promised over 2 years

Elderly: £2,950

Individuals: £2,350 and £10,000 put aside for future use when needed

Medical Areas: £ 8,500 . This included £5,500 to enable Lindengate to purchase a tractor and trailer

Organisations: £20,400 which included £10,000 to the Wendover Youth Centre and a promise of a further £10,000 each year for the next 2 years.

In addition, the Trustees agreed that they would wish to support future planned improvements at the Wendover Swimming Pool.

Although the majority of grants are awarded at the Annual Meeting, applications are considered and grants are awarded throughout the year. Anyone who lives in the parish of Wendover or the Moor Park Estate who wishes to know more about the Trust, or to apply for a grant, should consult the website, www.wendovertrust.org, and contact The Clerk at 14A Vicarage Close, Wendover, HP22 6DS, or email clerk@wendovertrust.org, giving a contact telephone number and address.

Next year’s meeting will be on 13th April and the closing date for applications to be considered then will be THE END OF FEBRUARY 2015.
