Local Artist’s Success in Major National Art Exhibition

Work by a local artist has been selected from over 1,700 entries to appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading figurative artists in this year’s Annual Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI). The painting is by Graham Fraser, a member of the Wendover Art Club, and is called ‘Bayard’s Cove’. It was painted in summer 2016 in Devon.

The ROI is the only national art society devoted exclusively to oil painting. Their annual exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to see the many and varied ways in which artists use oil paint today, from a traditional approach to this highly technical media through to more innovative uses of material, style and content.

The Institute’s Annual Exhibition will be on display at Mall Galleries, London from 30 November to 11 December 2016. More details on www.mallgalleries.org.uk.

Founded in 1882, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters chooses the very best submissions in oil-based media from national and international submissions. Offering valuable prizes such as The Phyllis Roberts Award and The Winsor & Newton Young Artist Awards, the ROI continues to lay the foundations for future generations to enjoy and achieve artistic expression with this most adaptable and durable medium.
