Local Team in 5-a-side Football National Finals

For the second year running, a local junior 5 a-side football team will representSouth England in thePowerleague5-a-sideNational Finals to be held in Manchester on 10 May.The team qualifiedafter winning the Under 16South Regional Finals at Basingstoke in Aprilagainst tough competition, having previously also won theArea Tournament, held locally at Stoke Mandeville in February.

The team, consisting mainly of Wendover Under 15’s, have been put together this season by player manager, James Patton who was part of last year’s successful Under 14 team. James would like to thank all the players for their support and commitment – Dan Keen, Antonio Belardo,Henry Tomlin,Kingsley Sibanda, Isaac Monene andHossam Fowlie,with special thanks to Hossam for taking on the role of goalkeeper and performing outstandingly.

The competition is in 2 year age bands ie U12/14/16 and despite the majority of the team (5 of the 7) being only Under 15, they weren’t fazed, united as a team and confidently asserted control throughout to succeed against older opposition.
