Wendover student Marian van Deventer has been named winner of  a national online Photo Imaging course, Adobe Generation. The 29 -year-old from Wendover won the ‘Over 19’ Collaboration award, netting herself a 12 month Adobe Creative Cloud Membership worth £500.

The free, nine week Adobe Generation courses were launched by Adobe to help students aged 14-19 in the UK develop key digital skills they will need for the modern workplace. Courses covered three digital disciplines: Animation, Photo Imaging and Games Design, all of which aimed to provide a real-world perspective on different careers in the creative industry.

During the Photo Imaging course, Marian was able to learn complex photography skills such as HDR imaging and also had access to industry experts who gave her an insight into the life of a photographer through their own experiences. She was also tasked with creating her own online portfolio using the skills she learnt on the course, which was then judged and critiqued by leading creatives including fashion photographer Kevin Foord. Marian won the ‘Over 19’ Collaboration award thanks to her devotion to developing skills, understanding and knowledge throughout the course.

Commenting on the course, Marian said: “I’m thrilled to be named winner of the ‘Over 19’ Collaboration award for the Photo Imaging course, especially considering the fantastic work which was produced by the other students taking part. Adobe Generation is a fantastic way to build key digital skills which are used in industry today. I’d recommend anyone interested in learning more about these to sign up to the next set of courses in 2013.”

Liz Wilkins, Senior Marketing Manager, Education at Adobe UK said: “We launched Adobe Generation to give students such as Marian the opportunity to learn digital skills which are being used in industry. We were incredibly impressed with the Photo Imaging skills Marian built up throughout the course and our congratulations go out to her for winning the ‘Over 19’ Collaboration award.”

Adobe will be rolling out more Adobe Generation courses in 2013, more information will be posted at www.adobegeneration.com.
