Olney Town Girls’ Football Club scores sponsorship with David Wilson Homes
The young footballers are sporting their new jackets for training sessions and in the build-up to matches after the local homebuilder became an official sponsor for the season.
David Wilson Homes, which is building new properties at its developments Brooklands and Eagles’ Rest close by, has contributed to the youth team for their waterproof sportswear.
Paul Griffiths, Club Manager at Olney Town Colts U10 Belles FC, said: “It’s been many years since Olney had a girls’ football team and with women’s football becoming so popular thanks to the Lionesses and televised matches, local girls finally have the chance to play football with their peers.
“The club is growing weekly and cold weather is usually the test for real commitment. Thanks to Davis Wilson Homes’ kind and generous donation, the girls are warm, dry and enjoying their football.”
The newly formed team participates in the Bucks Girls Football League and plays its home matches at the Olney Town FC recreation ground.
Providing support to the team, the club has also enrolled a female coach as a positive role model for the girls’ sports development.
