RAF Halton assist Royal British Legion Poppy Campaign Launch
Personnel from RAF Halton have supported the Royal British Legion Poppy Launch by collecting donations from the public at Marylebone Station, Paddington Station,Covent Garden and Heathrow Airport, the latter two being where the RAF Choir, ‘The Spitfires’ performed.
Chief Clerk, Flt Sgt Shirley Wilkinson who spent the day at Paddington, said: “It was brilliant, an absolute pleasure to go and be involved. The generosity of people was amazing, giving up to £50 and more for a poppy. We were given chocolates by one lady who said we had made her day. The Band of the Scots Guards played, which made it a lovely atmosphere, and in the afternoon Strictly Come Dancing stars and dancers showed up to do some dancing, even Bruno made an appearance. Some of Halton’s staff were interviewed and had photos taken with the Strictly stars so hopefully it will make the cut on the Saturday 11thShow just before Remembrance Day.”
