RAF Halton’s Station Commander, Group Captain Adrian Burns, accepted a cheque from the Chairman of the Vale of Aylesbury Sponsored Ride, Mr John Yarroll,  this week. The short ceremony took place at the Stables watched by Domino and Tinkerbell, two of the horses stabled there and led by Harriet Ditchburn from the Accounts Flight and Andy Goodall from the Regional Rehabilitation Unit.

The £7000 donation has been divided between the following:

The Station Commander’s Benevolent Fund,  which is a pot of emergency money the Chief Clerk  manages for individual hardship or welfare cases.

Recruits Welfare Fund, as Phase 1 trainees (SATTs) help to deliver the VASR event, a contribution has been given to their welfare fund which pays for welfare kit specifically for the Phase 1 trainees.

Half of the Station contribution will go towards a wider Central Fund bid to refurbish three Contact Houses, the other half of which is coming from the Accumulated Welfare Fund and finally, the Station Commander’s Support Fund, which is non-public money the Station Commander can use to support events and activity internally that cannot be paid for by public funds.
