Shed and outbuilding security – Wendover Police Area

As the weather has become warmer this is often a time when burglaries to sheds and outbuildings are committed.

Please take time to review the security of your sheds and outbuildings and address any security weaknesses:-
• Are you remembering to lock your sheds and outbuildings and are you using a good quality padlock?
• Are the door hinges in good order and could the screws be replaced with ‘anti-tamper’ screws (available from hardware store etc)?
• Have you property marked tools and gardening equipment, with your postcode?
• Have you considered purchasing a shed alarm, which will go off if someone tampers with the lock (available from garden centres and DIY stores etc)?
Further crime prevention information can be found on the Thames Valley Police website or by calling on the 24 hour Police Enquiry Centre number 101.
Make sure that any suspicious activity is reported, at the time it is happening, to the Police. If possible try to get a description of them as well as details of any vehicle they may be using, especially the registration number.
Finally, if you have any information about any crimes, or suspect someone of committing crime please contact the Wendover Neighbourhood Policing Team via 101.
If you don’t want to speak to the Police or give your details you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online via the Crimestoppers website.
