Shedpuss

Shedpuss

Shedpuss rests in grateful ease on the mat that rests my knees:

She starts to run when in I come, but stops and looks when I say “Humm”!

And when I say “You need not go”, she says “Miaouw, so you’re no foe!”

Soon she’s round my ankles, purring; some garden tasks she’s now deferring.

Shedpuss mewed around our door, as though to enter she’d adore:

At windows she looked in with longing: “Inside there I feel belonging”!

Once she crept into the house, causing wife to loudly grouse.

Then she looked surprise and doubt: “Am I in or am I out?”
