Special Shipment for the Troops from Wendover School

Students at the Wendover Campus of the Chiltern Way Federation are putting together a special shipment for British troops in Afghanistan this Christmas.

Boys from the school have written letters, collected gifts, and put together parcels for troops this year, with some help from Sweeney's Budgens.

One of the teachers at the school, Ruth Denslow, has a special interest in the project, as her 22-year-old son Bobby is overseas on a tour of duty at the moment.  Mrs Denslow remarked, "A lot of the soldiers don't have any family or loved ones to send them parcels.  It's amazing how it lifts their spirits."  She also said that the school is undertaking the project so that the boys can learn why British troops are overseas and how their absence from home affects their families and friends.

The boys have also been learning about Army life as part of the project, and are looking forward to hearing back from the troops.
