It’s already been a busy season of cricket at Wendover. A young U9s side is taking league cricket in its stride, winning all 4 of their fixtures so far. The team has a great squad of players with 15 children already involved in matches, with all players exceeding expectations in developing their cricket skills and match performances. Max Mayer and Daniel Hutchings have led the way with the bat, with high scores of 21 and 19 respectively, and Ben Fish is leading wicket-taker with 6 wickets at an average of 3.67.

In the Bucks League Division 2’s, currently the U10s are 3rd having won 2 and lost 1, the U11s are top with 4 straight wins, the U14s have won both their games by narrow margins and Jacob Davis has top-scored in both with 38 and 29, whilst the U15s which were promoted to Division 1, lie 2nd with 3 wins out of 4. For the U15s, the main run scorers have been Leo Blackman (92, average 31), Adam Munir (37) and Jake Buchorski (73) and the wickets have been shared.

On the senior side, the 1st XI have recently beaten Challoners where James Harrington hit 99, and Prestwood, where Wendover were bowled out for a lowly 116 and then saw the reply reach 70 for 1 off 17 overs, whereupon Dave Gulliver triggered a huge collapse as he claimed a match-winning 6 for 28 as Prestwood slumped to 110 all out.

The 2nd XI lost a close encounter with Aylesbury by 10 runs in a high-scoring game – 231-5 v 221 all out. But Wendover won their 2nd game by 20 runs at Widmer End; Dan Norton hit 44 in Wendover’s 175 and then Bob Glue with 3 for 14 and a run out helped dismiss the home side for 155.
