Weston Turville Horticultural Society

Important news for the Society is that  Pat Rutherford, Chairman of the Society for some 10 years, has sadly decided to call it a day.  We want to say a very warm “thank you” to Pat for her commitment, the sharing of her horticultural knowledge and for being such a  welcoming and friendly Chairman.

This does mean of course that we are looking for a new Chairman for our friendly committee.  The Society is over 100 years old so we really do want to keep going.  Can you help?  We hope there is someone out there who would like to take on this role. Perhaps you are new to the village or area or perhaps you have lived here a long time – is this something for you?

The Society is also looking for a Show Secretary for the Annual Show  scheduled for Saturday  8th August.  This event does take advanced planning as well as helpers on the day. The latter is never a problem. We are fortunate in that but for the event to continue we do need a Show Secretary to work with the Horticultural Society’s small committee.

This is an administrative role and one of the most attractive things about it  is that it involves one planning meeting in the early Spring and then in addition to some admin tasks a further 2/3 meetings with the team in the run up to the Show which takes place on the second Saturday in August. Moreover, all the Procedures are in place for the event and most relevant information is already saved on computer.

If not you, then perhaps you know of someone who would enjoy this role? If you would like to talk through or would like a copy of the Show Secretary Job Description please give Lindsay Smith a call on 01296 613237.  Thank you.
